Daily board number 13 in Word Vice: a four-by-four grid of letters with BURP just found for six points, both vice words found, and 49 vices in the jar.

Word Vice

Built for Duo Still filthy

Play dirty with words.

One new board a day, the same for everyone. Somewhere in it hides a word you’d never say at brunch. Find it and you win the day.

It started in the car.

We were on a long drive, playing the kind of word game you play to make the miles go faster. My wife has a talent for finding the one word in any puzzle that makes everyone in the car blush. She found several, and then she said the thing that turned into this app:

“The dirty words should be worth more.”

She was right. Every word game politely pretends half the vocabulary doesn’t exist. You can spot a filthy little four-letter word sitting right there in the grid, perfectly legal, and score the same four points you’d get for OATS.

Word Vice does the opposite. Ordinary words score the ordinary way; the naughty ones pay a bonus. I built it for her first. The rest of you are welcome to it.

How to Misbehave

📅

One board a day

A fresh 4×4 at midnight, the same for everyone, no clock. Find one vice word to win the day, or find them all to show off. Fridays come loaded.

🔥

Keep the streak alive

Win every day and watch the number climb. Night owls get until 2 a.m., because some of our best sinning happens after midnight.

🫙

Fill the jar

Every vice you find goes in your jar of bad words, for good. iCloud carries it, and your streak, to your other devices.

⏱️

Or race the clock

Need more? Sixty-second rounds, as many as you like, on 4×4, 5×5, or 6×6 on iPad. Find a vice for Vice Fever, where its letters pay extra.

🤬

Choose your corruption level

PG-13 keeps it cheeky. R-Rated takes the gloves off. At PG-13 the R words still turn up, censored, like a dare.

🔒

Your degeneracy stays private

  • No accounts +1
  • No ads or tracking +2
  • No internet required +3
  • Filthy vocabulary +8

Got an iPhone Duo?

Word Vice plays shut, open, or in laptop pose. And it knows one extra trick for when the boss walks in. We’ve said too much already.

Word Vice on a folded iPhone Duo: the daily board with a word swiped across it and the toolbar down the side. Word Vice on an iPhone Duo propped up like a laptop: the score on the upright half and the board on the half lying flat.
🗣️

Works with VoiceOver

Built to be played by ear. If something reads wrong or won’t focus, tell me and I’ll fix it.

Evidence of Wrongdoing

The Word Vice home screen: the devil peeking out of a jar of bad words, the PG-13 and R-Rated picker, buttons for Today’s Board and a Timed Round, and a one-day streak.
Choose your level of bad judgment.
The jar screen: 49 of 98 vices found, rated ‘A sailor would blush’, with each found word shown censored.
Keep everything you shouldn’t have said.
A timed round with fifty-seven seconds left: FART highlighted on the board and Vice Fever paying five extra points per vice letter.
Or panic for sixty seconds.

Filth, in Every Size

Word Vice on seven devices in a row, smallest to largest: iPhone mini, iPhone, iPhone Pro Max, a folded iPhone Duo, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.
From the smallest iPhone to the biggest iPad. Same bad words.
The smiling Word Nice otter leaning toward her devil friend. The Word Vice devil leaning back toward the otter with a wink.
Otter: “You could just say you like it.” Devil: “Let’s not get carried away.”

Different games. Same circle of friends.

Even I have a nice friend.

Meet Word Nice: calm word puzzles where every letter gets a turn. No timer. No score. Just a very pleased otter. It’s annoyingly good.
